DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

hehe I remember the great crash of...03? whenever.
I think it was 2004 since I remember it happened around Springtime. We were down for a month or so.

I remember the crash of 2006,

For the new site, The url is easier to type compare to the "http://www.definecynical.mancubus.net" and the loading time was FAST on my dialup compared to the old one, But i did have some trouble in the logging into the board department..

The thing i miss tho is the "Fan's Gallery" section, When i first join DC last year, the thing was intact but after the crash of 2006, we lost the gallery and the search thing doesn't work so searching stuff in the forum is hard ><

Being a Firefox user, I occasionally get login issues, that are generally solved by clearing my cookies for the site. Other than that, the site runs just fine for me, though the administrators should back up the forums a little more often in case a hard drive or server somewhere gets nuked for whatever reason.

Ah yes, I remember the hacker attacks, I believe that's what caused us to change forums in the first place. I remember that time, as it was Me, Tavis, Arloest, and a few others who were all helping out on the IRC to put all the topics back where they belonged.

You guys have a good point, we seem to have a good track record in welcoming people, but it seems we get forgotten about a lot. I suppose it happens to every good forum that's been around a while. Members will no doubt come and go, even the longtime veterans like myself. Of course, I've no intention of leaving. This is my home forum now, the place I lurk the most.

As for moderation issues, for the most part, everything runs smoothly around here, though I haven't seen our Senior Mod Tavis around here much at all. Sure, if someone wants to consider me or someone else for a position in the Mod Chair, I don't think there'd be much opposition or complaint about it IMHO.

apart from a few small glitches with logging in with firefox (i have to type in 'definecynical.net' instead of www.definecynical.net' to log in) the forums are great :D the load times are normal for me at least (wireless ADSL), and the community is very good at welcoming new members, as far as i can see ;). but i do agree that i would like to see a dedicated fanart page. the ozy&millie deviantart account has been dormant for months now :S

^My deviantart, plz take a look and leave a comment

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, and you've squished an ant... it's time.

Thanks for everybody's feedback, in this thread and in chat.

I began upgrading my old database server recently, though whether it'll return to hosting DC is still up in the air. Once I reach a firm dicision on the future of DC's hosting, I may look into collaborating with baloki and the others to expand the fanart page.

I think it would be good if anyone could add a link to their stuff on the fanart page, so you guys wouldn't have to. It'd make it a lot easier to keep it up to date.

I think the main problem with the fanart page is that outside of contests very few people draw Ozy and millie anymore. I'm not criticising that, just that most of the time there isn't much new art to put up there.

well, remember simon used to have a forum and threads where we would all post new stuff for him to include in his updates. Simon had great ideas for the site, he just couldn't maintain it <_<

I know that even I was led to create fan content from the sight of the threads.
