Other deaths noted in my paper today: director Anthony Minghella (54, of a postsurgical hemorrhage) and precocious pilot Vicki Van Meter (26, apparent suicide).
I heard they come in threes, but so rapidly?

More like Arthur C. Dead!
That's right. I got the comedy gold for every situation.

That's not right. A joke about this would have to be very philosophical. Like this:
"God said,'Cancel Project Clarke'. And then He died."
Which in turn is a parody of A very short story he wrote: "God said, 'Cancel Program GENESIS.' The universe ceased to exist."
See? It's pretty simple.

Could've been a demotivational poster, but I don't think it deals well with GIF's...

If his funeral was even half as boring and long-winded as his novels, they were in for one hell of a wait.

Meh, I'm an Ian M Banks fan.
Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Clarke's writing, and some of his ideas and stories are some of the greatest ever science fiction stories...he just rambles on too much in his prose for my liking...sometimes it's like reading a textbook.

I just don't take well to people speaking ill of someone when he dies, especially when he's not a tyrant or anything like that. It's insensitive to the mourners. But now that you've said a few good words, I feel better.

Except it's not somebody any of us know personally, so nobody should take offense.
That and he seems to be most famous for writing a book that got turned into a crappy movie.

And yet, I doubt he's unique in that respect.

Ah yes, "201 Minutes of a Space Idiocy." I dislike that movie.
