Swiss Experts: Unprotected Sex OK for Some with HIV
The Swiss National AIDS Commission said Thursday that some people with HIV who meet strict conditions and are under treatment can safely have unprotexted sex with non-infected partners. The proposal, which was published this week in the Bulletin of Swiss Medicine, astonished AIDS researchers in Europe and North America who have long argued that safe sex with a condom is the most effective way of preventing the spread of a disease.
Good news, I suppose, if they're not making a big mistake. I'm just worried that someone who doesn't meet the conditions will hear part of the news and jump to conclusions.

Well, unprotected sex is perfectly fine for people with HIV. It's their PARTNERS who should be concerned!

This sounds like a good way to SPREAD a disease, not to CONTAIN it. But what do I know, I'm not Swiss.

If I knew my partner had HIV, I would not have unprotected sex with them, IDC what the Swiss say.

Interestingly enough...there are a lot of folks in Europe who have developed the ability to keep from getting AIDS. They lack a specific cell surface protein which facilitates the uptake of the HIV virus into the T-Cell. Since this type of resistance has been prominent in Europe coupled with the fact that places in Africa have the worst cases of AIDS, one could infer from that that the HIV virus has spent more time in Europe and originated there than in Africa like so many believe was the case. At any rate that's a little too much scientific content. I myself would still not have unprotected sex with someone even if I knew she recently immigrated from Europe and may very well be resistant to AIDS. I believe in playing it safe.

I wouldn't risk it, and I'm not gay.
You know, it's amazing how many people forget that statistically you're more likely to get HIV and AIDS if you're heterosexual.
Well, and living in Africa I suppose, but that's besides the point! MY NUMBERS DON'T LIE!
They comfort!

The amusing part here (for me) is that the conventional wisdom on this subject is also incorrect. The best way to avoid HIV (or any other STD) is to not have sex, period. So-called "protected sex" comes in second.
Condoms DO break, and the AIDS virus is a fraction of the size of the naturally-existing flaws in latex anyhow. It's like trying to catch marbles with volleyball nets.

That's a sacrifice I'm NOT willing to make.

I find that sharing needles with heroin junkies is the best way to get over the cravings for an orgasm.
I'm cold. So cold.

Sacrifice? I would consider it a fact of life for me. I have no worries.
