I'd say "Haven't we already covered this" except I think I posted the BBC News version to the IRT forum rather than this one.

Not sure about the ethics of all this, but it's quite interesting.
I would have thought dangerous, controversial experiments like this would be going on in hidden underground labs away from the prying eyes of the public. At least, so says the novel I'm working on.

I suggest watching that 1984 Bagi film. An anime which seemed like porn when I shown it to the friends I had, but it's not. The message behind the movie seems to cover my feelings behind this film.

linky
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

I posted this video in my journal, but I think it fits in with this topic somehow.

It is an interesting one this. At what point does a human/animal hybrid become advanced enough to warrent "rights"? And who decides when an animal is intelligent enough to get the same rights are people? I mean, what tests will they have? Wait until they can beat us at chess?

I may not believe in "God", but I do believe that we shouldn't try to become him.

And killing them to avoid the moral question of what rights bracket if they they constitute as belonging to if they display signs of sentience is kinda what I'm worried about here anyway. Though granted before you said that I was more worried about the prospect of a slave race being created."

You know, I'm all for science but killing any of the hybrids if they display signs of sentience just smacks of wrongness and hollywood induced paranoia.

I failed to add the second part of my line, so I'll add it here instead.

Although I don't believe in God, I believe that we shouldn't try to fill the void.
