If people were automatically removed after three Purple Hearts, soldiers would not be able to earn more than that. Obviously, that isn't the case since some are able to boast having much more, as many as twelve. For someone still determined to make a strong fight in a war he supposedly believed in once, seeking duty as a personal aide back home is a very weak way to show it. Of course, he did go so far as protesting that war later on, so perhaps this was some turning point.

As for what a candidate did 30 years ago, that is a silly thing to dismiss, as these are as much a discussion on a person's character as anything. The fact that Kerry wished to disclose them as an important part of his life (enough to sell a book on it) would show that it does have relevance even today. I can think of events in my life that had affected me more than 15 years ago. Why not cite something 30 years ago for someone over twice my age?

I would like it noted that I give up on this election and everything associated with it. Wake me up for 2008.

He tends to come off as a little nutso in interviews, although he's perfectly sane in his writing. I think it comes from the fact that Libertarians aren't exactly people persons.

I'm voting for him because he got arrested for political protest, and not for drunk driving.

Maybe if politicians put half as much zeal into their jobs as they do their personal desires... alas.

A vote for the Libertarian party is a vote for "tough shit."

It's Election Day here in the United States, so if you're eligible and haven't done so already, get that last-minute bit of pre-voting info and make your choice! Even if you don't have an opinion on the presidential election, remember that there are also plenty of local elections today and your vote will have a direct and significant influence over what happens near you.

EDIT: To add some O&M fun.. here's Llewellyn's Election day message.

It's bad that I voted weeks ago. It makes listening to all the yammering all the more irritating.

Let the better man win. I wish a woman had the courage to run for president.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

Are you suggesting that women don't run for president every year?

What's lacking is a nomination, not courage. Texas has had female governors. There's no logical reason why a woman couldn't win a presidential election.

My bets are on Kerry.

The special signs are saying he'll wins.

Something to do with the Washington Redskins winning a season opener. Forgot what exactly it was, but depending on if they win, either the incumbant or the cumbant will win. It's been true every single time.

The same thing with Nickelodeon. They've predicted every election winner successfully. EVERY ONE. And they're saying Kerry will win.

Okay, I'm probably very confused here, and this is a question I meant to ask a month ago on this thread, but... I only thought I saw it, and I didn't wanna look stupid... maybe it was just a typo? or a ghost?

Did someone say Dr. Robotnik was running for president? I could have sworn someone said that...

Excuse me, I'm gonna go laugh at myself and everyone else now.

I think when she's seen as having a little more experience, Hillary could campaign.

Heh, i just remembred the Calvin and Hobbes strip where Susie and Calvin are playing president and Calvin's the "First Husband".
