Disproportionate Response?

I don't know how many people have been following this story but death does seem a bit harsh a punishment?

Harsh, yes. Surprising, hardly, after the reaction to the Danish cartoons of yesteryear.

Shouldn't the protesters be too busy paddling the kids that wanted to name the teddy bear Muhammad in the first place to be trying to stone the teacher?
That which does not kill me, cripples me for life.

You don't know much about conservative Muslim law do you? A woman is Saudi Arabia was raped and beaten, the court sentenced her - not her attackers - to a lashing.

This is frankly one of the most idiotic things I have ever had the misfortune to be exposed to, and frankly, the teacher should not get punished, all those who call for the punishment of the teacher are the ones who should be put to death, for they are the intolerant ones, the ignorant, and the faulty.

And the case of the Saudi woman. Well, considering my response to the teachers situation, I think it would be kinda obvious:

Nuke any place which actually has laws such as those which would punish victims simply for being female. For being gay, for worshipping another religion. Why a dozen girls were allowed to burn to death because they didn't have immediate acsess to a burqa, where stoning and beheading are still means of execution, and where executions are tossed about on the whim of religious law.

Of course, that's the problem, now isn't it? Religion, this is what causes millions to get "insulted" over a name, or a cartoon. And remember Americans and Brits, we are allies with this backwards as pants medieval holdout of ignorance and intolerance, but wait, what's that? Oh yeah, they have oil, of course, thats why we cant say anything.

It disgusts me, and it pains me in the extreme that such places are allowed to exist and operate in todays "enlightened" society. Well, they aren't as long as they're friends with the US...

I need to lay down for a while...

The government and nation of Sudan have been condemned by the US, UK, and most all the UN. The US government forbids any US business to have relations with Sudan. Sudan is no friend, of US, or U(K.)

Although I'm pretty sure I read something about China making a trade deal involving oil for Chinese workers and engineers with Sudan.

Meh, she knew what it was like before she went there. It's her own fault, but still the Sudanese are pretty pants up.

This from the religion whose followers name like half their male offspring after the dude anyway.

Also WTF about the teacher being jailed. This would never happen in the US. (Granted, we're more likely to jail people for being Muslim over here, or just torturing them without trial... etc., etc.)

They sentenced her for being in public without a male escort though, not for being raped and beaten.

Really instead of insulting the religion, people should be upset with the culture. Islam actually is pretty fair towards religion if people were to actually follow what it says. However the culture of alot of these places has been heavily against women even before Islam was introduced.

Yep, a good way to resolve a situation where victims are being wrongfully oppressed is to kill those who oppress. Along with the victims. And everyone else. Yep.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...
