In some parts of the world, I am 1/2 light and 1/2 dark. In other places I have more light than dark, and yet in OTHER places, I have more dark than light. Regardless of where you look for me, You really can't "see" me, you can only "experience" me.
So, what could I be?

the earth?
or, to be more specific, a ~24-hour period, or "day"

It is in fact a day. Nice job!

Try this one:

Two guards were on duty outside the barracks. One faced up the road to watch for people approaching from the North. The other looked down the road to see if anyone approached from the South. Suddenly one of them said to the other, "Why are you smiling?"

How did he know that his companion was smiling?

They were facing each other.
Gee, let me take a break after submitting! LOL
Yes, they were facing each other!

Ok, try THIS:

Why should you never mention the number 288 in front of anyone?

288= 2 X 144.
144=1 gross.
Therefore 288= two gross.

So you should not mention 288 because it's "too gross"? Makes sense.

LOL Very good!

Let's see what you can do with this one:

For just a second, let's pretend you are a bus driver. There are 6 people on your bus already. You drive three blocks and let off two people and one person gets on. After 2 more blocks you stop and let four people off and two get on. Four blocks later 1 person gets off the bus and four more get on.
Now the challenge: How could there be 6 people still on the bus? (Assume no one is pregnant and there are no children.)

I'm guessing I don't fully understand the riddle.

Code: Select all

6 -2 +1 5 -4 +2 3 -1 +4 6
that's my math for it, and it ends with 6 people on. There's also a bit of information I was able to deduce from the riddle, but I'll let other people figure it out on their own since it might give the answer to them even though it hasn't to me

:laugh:
And I even made a mistake in the riddle, too. (Damn me!)

The PROPER way it should read is:

For just a second, let's pretend you are a bus driver. There are 5 people with you on your bus already.

(I was in a hurry and didn't proofread the post... THIS is the proper way it should have been stated. Me and my fast fingers...LOL!)

The former figure excludes yourself, the latter one does not.

oh, no. The fact that I was unsure of whether it was just being mistold, or I simply hadn't discovered the answer made it much more enjoyable than some of the other riddles that have been here.

Well considering I may have ruined this one with my (stupidity?), yes there are 5 people on the bus as passengers, and one driver for a total of 6.

Here are two for the price of one, to make up for my, erm, mistake:

1)What has six faces, twenty-one eyes, no nose or mouth and can not see?

2)Which city in the world has the largest population? (WARNING: Trick question!)
