I am new to this site, as well as to Ozy and Millie. I found the strip in February from a Calvin and Hobbes fansite that I can't get to anymore. Anyway, I figures as long as I'm a fan of the strip now, might as well join the forum.
Right now I only have access to the internet once a week (at the library) and have limited time at that. So I'm still working on coming up with an avatar -- I'll probably use something I drew, being an amateur cartoonist myself. And while I'm on the subject, I don't know how to change the phrase that appears under the avatar...the one that just says "new user" right now. It's called the "title," but there's nothing like that on the control panel.

Welcome, Octan.

I thoroughly remember the days where the only way I could get online was from the local University's Library, and for only roughly two hours a day. Majorly inconvenient for weekends and holidays, where the hours are limited and/or the library's closed. The only good thing about it was they were open far later than any other public library around. Fortunately, this was long before I found DC.

A good friend of mine who's also a well known fox fan [who unfortunately is not a member of the board] introduced me to O&M. I liked it, downloaded everything, found the forum, and the rest is history.

Welcome, Octan! I know norsenerd mentioned it already, but you can change the title using the "Custom member title" in your Profile. As for the name, it reminds me of a couple Lego sets that used the name Octan (pronounced "Octane") to label their gas stations and race cars rather than the Shell brand (which occasionally sells special Lego sets licensed with their brand name).

Hey! Welcome!
Maybe it's just my area but there's always a city youth service building where they have free computer/printer/fax/internet/TV/PS2/councelling access for young people who don't have such things.

Well, I'm back and the avatar's up (by the way, where did that word come from? Sounds like something from science fiction, or maybe a name in a "Lord of the Rings" book). And yes, the name "Octan" DID come from the Lego sets (I was wondering if someone would catch that). I'll try to come here as often as I can.
