What happened when I was gone

I haven't made a thread for a while so I figured I'd post this.

Pictures of the destruction the morning after Hurricane Ike hit:

My dad getting something out of the car or something.

The guy who lives in this house won like 70 bucks in poker a few days earlier so he had this coming. The tree took out a good chunk of his storm drain if you couldn't tell.

The bike trails were pretty badly flooded and torn apart.

There were some areas where the water was up to my neck but I wasn't dumb enough to go in there.

It was still raining pretty hard that morning so that's why a lot of these are really blurry :<

Holy crap. Nature's power is horrific at times.

especially when taking advantage of things that people make (e.g. carrying cars, parts of buildings or trees that we plant, as well as flowing through streets, not to mention global warming :? )

Luckily I don't live in Galveston. Galveston got pants.

Yeah, it looked pretty much the same where I was.

I'm still without internet at my house though.

Also, yeah, Galveston got hammered. But Bolivar Peninsula got the worst damage.

None of this actually looks impressive at all if you've lived in Houston for long enough.

That's some pretty intense flooding (I too am used to flooding though), but it looks like you guys didn't get hit TOO bad. At least, not as bad as some other places I've seen (assuming Galveston was one of them), so that's good. Still sucks though.

So true. There were way more than a few on Galveston that were not so lucky.

Someday I swear Galveston is going to just not exist anymore. Nature keeps sodomizing it.

Interesting there wasn't a single houseboat, carboat or actual boat...
...That's good in itself, I suppose. Helped the shoe sales for sure.
