I never thought this day would come, and I had hoped that it never would, but unfortunately, it has.

Folks, I'm leaving.

The few of you who would want to know why already do, but I'll explain anyway. I'm only posting this because I think it's rude to suddenly vanish without at least trying to tell people that you're leaving.

When I first came to this forum, I was surprised. At the time, I didn't think there was such a thing as a forum where the members didn't tell each other how stupid/gay/retarded/worthless they were on a daily basis. (Then again, I had spent most of my time posting at such shining examples of goodwill as Doomworld, Planet Elder Scrolls, GameFAQs, and the like) I liked what I saw. I thought that maybe I had found that one "perfect" (in my eyes, anyway) forum.

Obviously, I was wrong.

Recent events, both forum-related and personal, have compelled me to step back and take a good long look at this forum, and I do not like what I've seen. There still seems to be a vague disapproval of some of the newer members. There still exist the sort of jerks who act like jerks intentionally, and then have the gall to pretend that it's not their fault that people are angry at them for being jerks. The fact that the two troublemakers who ended up starting a TEN PAGE FLAMEWAR have not only not been punished, but forgiven, especially makes my blood boil.

I've had enough. It was fun while it lasted, though.

Goodbye, Define 'Cynical'. Maybe I'll be back someday, but it sure won't be any time soon.

Those of you who feel the urge to tell me how glad you are to see me leave (and I'm sure there's at least one of you), or to tell me how wrong I am, know where to find me.

Hmm. I feel like I joined this forum after an all-out war or something. Oh well, it's sad to see people go before I ever got to know them. Hope you fare well elsewhere.

It's a shame to see you go, Spray. While most members here will agree that the flamewar topic in question over Christmas was easily the forum's darkest hour (topics about questionable Ozy and Millie-related content nonwithstanding), and no self-respecting member would have wanted anything to do with this.

From what I hear, the staff and Admin are still trying to figure out a workable solution to the problem. I personally didn't condone any of the behavior exhibited in that thread.

But I hope whatever way you lead in life is fruitful, and you will be missed by this fox.

Edit: Comrade K: Not an all-out war, but a flamewar spawned by Ibun's Emo nature, which set off DCS of all people. Later on when the thread was revived for civil discussion, Ibun apologized, but Loeln kept the war burning on.

We very nearly lost DCS's support of this forum on his website [which is most likely how you found this place in the first place]

This is the internets. We have to whine about something or our typing fingers will become atrophied.

On a more relevent note: I'm sorry to see you go Spray. I don't really think I've gotten to know you very well and now you're leaving. Good luck to you in the future.

I see. No need for more information, I think I'd rather let whatever happened sink into the past, lest it renew any conflict.

-_- that does not reflect at ALL on DC's nature. Ibun, Loeln, and DCS are three people that rarely even post on DC.

I'm angry people are making as big a deal out of it. maybe because I wasn't here until after it all happened.
pants jesus
DCS should've ended the comic a year or two ago.

I'm really going to miss you Spray. I didn't know you all that well, but you were a really nice guy. I'm so sorry for what happened and that you feel this way. It's always sad to see someone go away.
Peace to you and best of luck in all endeavors.
You will be sorely missed.

I would like to respond to these comments...

The events of last week had been put under close scrutiny by myself and the others in the moderating staff from the day it was locked until New Year's Day. Decisions were made and messages were finally sent tonight regarding this.

As for this "vague disapproval," I have always welcomed members to report problems among each other. No one has spoken up. If all of you are going to take the things that bother you in silence, there is little I can do about it.

Having read that, I just now realized I can't find the "Report" button anywhere. Does phpbb not have one?

Hmm, seems there are a couple things that no longer exist that were around during my moderator days.

I'm not really worried about those guys going off again. I think people are more concerned about the moderators' less-than-iron response, which inspires little confidence for handling future troubles.

Trust me when I say this, there's more than meets the public eye going on here.

Sorry to see you leave Spray. If ever you feel like coming back we're here (probably).

The moderators were talking to the people concerned the day it was happening and there's been a lot of talk going on behind the scenes.
