People used to think that any vehicle that travelled more than 35mph would explode/vaporise/whatever. Then some steamboat proved them all wrong by travelling at a blazing 40mph.

More recently, people thought that the speed of sound was an impassable barrier, and that breaching it would cause a massive explosion, killing the occupant of the vehicle. Some test pilot broke the sound barrier a few years later.

Now, people are just as certain that the speed of light cannot be broken. I look forward to the day when that too is proven wrong

I, personally, can't wait for the light barrier to be broken. I like the idea of arriving before I left.
Just remember: the faster you travel, you longer it takes for you to realize you missed your exit.
