Tell that to the Massachusetts Politicians who made this law up.

There are a lot of states with mandatory insurance laws, which I think is really stupid. I mean, this is the government forcing us to buy something. They should either make it optional, or keep it mandatory and have it included in the registration fees/car taxes, and then possibly allow private insurance companies to sell supplemental insurance. Either way, the current insurance laws are stupid, and possibly unconstitutional.

I don;t see how it's uncosntatutional for states to regulate insurance laws. They do keep the roads up and can regulate them. If you don;t drive on public streets you don;t have to obay any trafic or automobile laws.

I think the government shoudl provide auto insuranse and offer difernt plans as well as rewoard good drivers and punish bad drivers. PRivite insuance companies whoudls till oporate and those who OPT OUT for private insurance should get tax credits but not as much as the insurance costs per capita and those who don;t drive or have autos shodul get a full tax credit on insurance per capita. Then again I'm a socialist so what do you expect?

I say it might be unconstitutional because it's forced consumption. No other product or service that I can think of is a required purchase, aside from government-run industries. Citizens ought to be free to choose not to patronize insurance companies, which I think would fix a lot of what's wrong with the insurance companies and their rates. If they had to actually WORK for their customers, I guarantee their rates would be much less than they are now.

I live five miles from civilization, I'm NOT walking!

Granted, for some people it's more convenient, so I think folks should walk to destinations when possible. That doesn't solve the insurance problem, however.

In Vietnam the most common form of transport is the bike, because the government made the price of a car really really high to prevent people from buying it in an attempt to save the country's environment, but still... just work for ten years and you've got enough money to buy nearly anything.

Took me a long time to get my license. I didn't bother getting one until I had saved enough money to buy a car with cash. I didn't want anything to do with monthly payments.
...Oh, and now my good friends seem to have mysteriously vanished from the Internet.... I don't allow messages from anyone that's not on my contact list. Primarily for security reasons -- I've been spammed and contacted too many times by people I've never heard of saying offensive things.

Or you could just talk here. We have a chat room.

...Unless, of course, the evil computer demons are blocking the way. It happens.

Nope, chat's not working for me.... it never works, and when it does work, no one's on it... the thing's a POS.
