I think you moph into a cobonation fo your curent species and the species that you are around most )othjer then your own) Splanter lived in the swer and thus was around rats most often. The turtels lived in a pet shop and thus were around people. The person who bought thewm dorped them down the swer and into a vile of broken ozze and splineter came to wash them off and they morphed.
