I have personaly had an excelent christmas. One of my favorite gifts though, is a Slinky, pure and simple! i've played with that thing for hours now, while in conversation, or even getting it to walk down some stairs! weee! I love those things, and its one of the MEHTUL ones too, not the cheap plastic that made me want to set fire to the walls. Ok, so im just being colorful, as a certain o&m char would say.

Hey FoxChild, hope you found a good staircase for that. Slinkies rule. A friend of mine brought one into school last year and we had spare time in Bio that day, so we set up a mini staircase for the slinky out of a table, chairs, books, bookbags, and some other stuff. God I miss my Bio class.

I was wondering if slinkies go down spiral staircases, i'd try it but i lost mine years ago and am now slinkyless.

Taken from Bash.org...

<TRON> if my calculations are correct SLINKY + ESCULATOR = EVERLASTING FUN

I want to try that one day.

You need to make sure that the two go at equal speeds. I imagine the escalator would be too fast for the slinky and the slinky would eventually wind up at the top. Plus, you need to make sure the slinky make equal 'steps.' Lots of physics involved. I don't take physics this year, so check this out with someone who does.

you also have to make certain that the momentum is constant. After a while, the slinky would come to a rest, even if given an escalator to go down.
Oh, and yes, I do have a staircase for it to go down, and it is a good staircase!

look at it this way, it means that A) we were willing to give it enough time to consider it. we all like the idea. C) we're smart enough to at least think about different possibilitys and variables that would go into such a situation! if it helps at all, i've got the everlasting slinky going through my head right now!

Sounds like the perfect animation... *pictures an avatar of a Slinky falling down the stairs while the viewer goes down with it* loop the animation, and it's the everlasting slinky!
