Glad you have power back. that would not have been fun at all. I lost power in north east Texas for about 5 min but then it came back on.

And if anyone cares, you can read aobut my oh so exciting day right here. (Actually be really appreciative if you did read this, for some reason I feel like I really need to share my experience with other people. Thanks. Occasional strong words, so you know.)

Wow, I didn't realize it how rough it could have been for your brother. I'm glad the power got fixed when it did.

I've *never* experienced a power outage of that length before.
I'm glad to hear than, at least for your brother's sake, they managed to get the power back on. Enjoy your schoolless days, and you might want to look into a spare generator, just in case...
Still mostly here.

Oof.. sounds pretty harsh, Arlo. I am glad your family was spared any serious damage from it anyway. And yeah, being without electricity in Houston's a recipe for disaster. I hope I can hear from you again soon, just to know everything's alright with you, your brother, and the rest of your family, and to swap notes for next time something like this may happen. Stuff like packing ice in coolers, stocking up on water (not just drinking water), taking care of the perishibles before they go bad, and having backup power.

Sorry my reply's so late... I've been home since around Sunday night, but hadn't tricked down to the forums themselves until today.

Ooh, we did stock up on gallons upon gallons of water, but there wasnt much need for that, since we still had water pressure. But as for the ice, we tried to get some, but couldn't find any and at the moment backup power was too rare and expensive to have.
