He's likely to be worrying about the latter rather than the former, because a) they suck and they're kinda on everything he's done for the past 2 years.

Then he had two modules of exams last year, the year nine SATs the year before, and can look forward to his AS papers next year followed by his A2 papers the year after. And then it's off to uni.

On the plus side of the UK education system, you get an actual qualification rather than this 'high school diploma' bussiness at 16, then another at 17, then another at 18 before going off to uni. On the downside, you have 4 years of major exams before uni, after a year of a 'meaningless standardised paper' that kinda determins what level of GCSE's that you'll sit.

And this was all introduced to relieve the stress of having a set of major exams at the end of two years study (which is now two years of exams), followed by a set of major exams at the end of two years study (which is now, again, two years of exams). Something went slightly wrong there, I think.

Good luck Ozymandias

Dunno about modular GCSEs, but the coursework deadlines are starting to appear on the horizon (Physics (and that counts for 25% of the final mark), Biology(25%), English x2 or x3 (20%), Electronics (60% ), History (12.5%), Maths, + loads of Latin learning).

Thanks to AS and A levels, I won't get a revision-free Christmas until I leave uni. I had mocks first day back (bang went Christmas this year), which really got my goat. [/random whinging].
