Heya, it's your friendly neighborhood Vulpine, checking in from Oklahoma University!

Things have been all right so far, and my first week on the job at USA Truck went fairly well.

What I've done since last I spoke was taken a 22 hour Greyhound ride from my hometown to Dayton, OH, and once I got there Saturday Afternoon I stayed at a Howard Johnson's for two nights (Paid for by the company), and Tuesday Morning my trainer was in the area so I checked out of the hotel and took the shuttle van over to the USa Truck terminal.

While there, I met a person I knew from the Trucker's School, and chatted with him for a while until my trainer showed up around 2:30 PM. We had to wait a while because his truck needed routine maintenence, so we got out on the road about 4 PM.

Since then I've basically been driving with my trainer. From Dayton, OH, to Oklahoma City, back to Sydney, OH, and back again to Oklahoma City.

We got in early yesterday morning about 3 AM, and I spent the night in the truck. Then I checked in to the Days Inn here in Norman, OK (about 20 miles from Oklahoma City, also to be reimbursed by the company).

Aparently, the schedule from now until the end of training will be more or less the same. Trips from OKC to Sydney, OH will be the norm, and weekends here near OU. (Heck of a walk from the hotel though. Oh well.)

Anyway, I gots some catching up to do, so I'll let you all go for now.

-- Miles E. Traysandor

Arloest: Then maybe you should get into it when you turn 21.... actually you could start as early as 18, but you can't leave the state while on the job until you're 21. Of course, that would leave you at an advantage since you live in the second biggest state in the USA (Second only to mostly uninhabitable Alaska )

Heya, this is your Friendly Neighborhood Vulpine checking in again, and it's now the end of Week #3. The week went pretty quick, all things considered, and the weather was better than last week on the road, with the exception of this early morning's heavy downpour at 1:15 AM outside of Tulsa on the Turnpike on I-44 East.

I suppose there isn't a whole heck of a lot that's changed much in the past week in my life, except that I get to find a way to send money home to start paying backed up bills. That's about all, really.

At least this week I should be able to check in tomorrow as well. I can manage the walk here, it goes a lot quicker when you bring a GBA with Pokemon Emerald along for the ride.

Peace out, I got stuff to take care of.

-- Miles E. Traysandor

Still not within CB range, though (Unless I got a tower, since a good basestation can get practically anything that is line of sight, as with any decent mid-power radio device.) If you do any runs to Van Wert, you probably run right through here and don't know it.

Nah, I haven't done any runs out that way recently... I'm usually sleeping when we get to Sidney. I'm guessing that should end this week when my training does, but we'll see I suppose.

As for me, I'm doing all right, and presently at the end of quite a long week involving a good 60-plus hours of driving. Weather was great the whole time, and audio book tapes really help on those long ass 9 to 10 hour trips going from Eaton, OH to Joplin, MO, or something like that...

Anyway, I'm not so sure what next week will throw at me quite yet, but I suppose I will soon enough. I'll just have to take the pitches as they come and hope for the best. I already know I can hit one out of the park when it really matters (that happened in Indianapolis during trucker school), but again we'll see.

Obviously, I'm hopeul for the best, because quite frankly, training is starting to suck... But I'll live...

-- Miles E. Traysandor

Audio books, hm? If you're a fan of sci-fi and would have access to a cd player instead of just a tape player, www.bigfinish.com have some decent stuff available.
