A place to talk about anything (that doesn't belong in the other forums).

Pretty self explanatory. I was considering putting up a Java IRC client to access #mancubus.net on OFTC, but then I wondered whether or not it was even worth it. I figured this would be an excellent place to ask.<br><br>So, tell me, do you use the client? Do you not? Are you not even sure what we're talking about? I'd like to know!

I don't use the Java. I've tried at school, but school + computers = blah.
See?

Most Java clients I've used have been unreliable at best. And trying to do anything with a school computer; performing brain surgery on yourself with a cordless drill is less painful.

I've been using the Java client on this site to access #definecynical. I don't really mess with the other systems, and I appreciate that it works well on any computer system I can use to access the internet without having to install any software on computers that are not mine.

Java clients aren't hard to set up, I say just do it. It'll be nice just to have one there.

Back before I downloaded my current browser which has an IRC client, I used the one located on this site. Infact, I stole the java application from this site, and put it on to a local customized homepage so I could use it to connect to as many different networks as I wanted without coming to this site!

I used to use the Java client, but now I use Trillian because it creates a smaller chat window, and I need all the screen space I can get <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Which was another nice thing about stealing the client. I could make it as big or as small as I wanted, then open it up in a dialog-style window. Nice and compact, even compared to most popular clients; less space than the one I'm using now.

I use Java to access the chat from the link at the top of the forum, however it won't connect most of the times I've tried. It's been eons since I last made an appearance in the chat rooms. OF course anything else I may try to use is likely to be far too complicated for the likes of me. I hate my general non-knowledge of all things computers... <!--emo&--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... ns/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo--> <!--emo&--><img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... ns/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
This signature may spontaneously combust at any given moment. Make sure there's a fresh can of gasoline handy.

I said no, but then I saw the word mIRC and was confuzzled on what was what so I have no clue, apart from the chat doesn't work for me.
