She's calling herself Pedantia.

Discuss.

Also, she likes the dragons I drew. :wag:

Pedantia?

... Pedantia. Really? I mean, REALLY?

That sounds like the name a mother would make up so that her child's name was entirely unique. Also, sounds like a foot product. Ped-Egg, anyone?

No, I mean, seriously. I don't understand that name. For all the faults I see in DCS, character naming was never one of them (and frankly, the guy CAN write, just can't seem to as of late!).

The name simply seems coarse, and abrasive. It doesn't flow off the tongue.

Alright, I looked up "Pedantia" to see if there was any name as such, or if it was made up, what the origins of this would be; here it is (as taken from http://dictionary.reference.com ) :

Pedantic:

1. ostentatious in one's learning.
2. overly concerned with minute details or formalisms, esp. in teaching.

The irony here is that these aren't very flattering at all. It can be taken as 'Book smart" but has a pretentious, or a 'look at me I want attention' note to it.

It's a theoretical "world of pedants".

:wag:

Anyone get that? No?

Sod yer then.

When I originally saw the word, the pronounciation I imagined was "puh-DAN-shuh". That seems to roll off the tongue decently.

puh-dan-shuh vs. puh-dan-tee-uh is the same thing as fuh-lee-shuh vs. fuh-lee-she-uh

meaning pronounce it however you want.

Am I the only one who skipped foot care and awkwardness straight to reading the name forever as 'Pedantic?'

(Also, pants me, not sure if the question mark goes inside or outside the quotes. Then again, it's incorrect to use single quotes there anyway, which I do because it feels neater to me, so I guess it's irrelevant.)

Edit: Also, not to be the rain of blood and orphans on your parade, cougar, but I sincerely doubt she likes your dragons as much as she likes you not threatening her with legal action.

Maybe I didn't read her page enough, but I was under the impression that it's meant to mean pedantic. Except she's removing any negative connotation and just taking pedantry to be the act of teaching.

am I the only one that gets annoyed when posts about DCS aren't moved back to the OM section like they used to be before RD started?

Ozy's baldness curse is being carried over into her childrens' books
not to mention a topless little girl

There are topless little girls at the public pool all the time. The baldness one was grosser.
