the entropy of a moose

a physics-major friend of mine just told me that in his class today they calculated the rough entropy of a moose: S= 2 million Joules/Kelvin (very approximetly) and that struck me as the type of info that yall would find intersting <img src='http://definecynical.mancubus.net/forum ... /smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /> (i believe one of the approximations was to assume that a moose was 400kg of H2O.... but i dont' kneow the rest of the approx.)

Every action results in chaos and disorder. This disorder increases as time progresses, and cannot be destroyed. order falls to disorder naturally, but not vice versa, as such entropy can be thaught of as irrecoverable useless energy. On a related note - the entropy prescent within a black hole can be measured by the surface area of the event horizon. Black holes 'leak' and get smaller over time, assuming they have nothing left to suck in. Thus, the entropy present within a black hole decreases over time. Which is fun. It's like, 'nothing can escape a black hole, not even light. Entropy ignores this rule.' or 'entropy does not decrease within a closed system, and increases over time. Unless said closed system is a black hole.' I never learned this in depth, but a very simplified way of looking at it was that when leaves fall of trees, they don't fall in nice, neat little stacks, they go all over the place, because it requres the least energy. In very simplified terms, nature is lazy.

Uhh... Dun think so... Fairly hard to explain without going in depth on physics slightly beyond the point where physics goes totally screwy. Sorry I feel inadept to help you on this beyond what I've tried to do so far...

I have no lcue what the enthropy of a moose is nor how to calculate enthropy in general. I can't be of help here, sorry. The best I can do is to tell you that Millie creates a lot of enthropy.
