That topic wasn't locked because you were trying to belittle Americans, it was locked because it did. Not horrifically, but rather needlessly. It contributed very little to anything, and would naturally have nothing but negative responses. If you used that post as a response to someone saying, like, "everyone in the world likes us!", it would have been appropriate. But as a topic on it's own and not a particular response to anything it just sounds like you ranting about America for no reason (even if you said you weren't).

If you were trying to tell us that the rest of the world thinks we're dumbasses, then, well, we already knew that.

I really not that upset with folks expressing negative opinions about the USA. I realize that thanks to Dubya we've acquired a negative image, apparently among folks even within this country. As for me I just don't try to let it get to me. After all I know that for the most part there are decent representations of American life all across the country and they stand as I do for equality, generosity, and the basic rights and freedoms of all persons. The unfortunate thing is that what's shown predominately here and throughout the world is all the negative publicity and press. Can't really blamed the media too much though. After all what's the fun in positive news and folks making a difference. No, we don't want that. Bring on the animosity and all the drama. That's what we crave That's really all I have to say.
