Yep, it was so shocking that the erosion of the tapestry decided to destroy that first.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

Apparently Vootie started in 1976, so I wasn't off by much.

Bumping up this thread because I FINALLY got my new scanner, and I've been wanting to share this with you all.

This is Mayan art, c. 900 A.D. Note that the style is NOT the "glyph" type you'd normally see carved on stone, but it's much more realistic, and they even include pupils in the eyes, too.

Look at the very bottom of the cup:

Excellent topic, I've been researching it all myself, either to find out if I am gifted, or what the hell is wrong with me.

These are the 3 hypothesis I have come up with, wiether or not this has relevance to the pretaining topic, I have been dying to type it do here goes.

"Furry"--"In the broadest definition, someone who finds the idea of anthropomorphic (humanlike) animals, in art, fiction, cartoons, costume, or other media, to be an appealing one."

1. Genetics.

This is known as "the furry bug" If its in you, you are a fur, you cant stop it.
Being born with this certain fondness of these fictional beings, chemical imbalances/balances.. certain thought patterns, much like being a genius/a dope artistic/autistic, funny/jay leno, good at math/cant count to 7, gay/straight, pepsi/coke pirate/ninja...... Furry/Non-fur it all boils down to what goes on in teh bra1n.
But why would we be born with a fondess of somthing that has never existed?.. simple... genetic human diversity. We are all born with different feelings and thoughts torwards certain things, to be diffirent.. so we all arent the same... It just so happens that our exposure to these things advance our fondness of these creatures, Ie: starfox, bugs bunny, Mrs. Brisby... which brings me to numero duce.

This is known as "the furry bug" If its in you, you are a fur, you cant stop it.

2. Exposure.

Say from the day you were born, everyone around you was a rabbit person, everyone on tv was a rabbit and you had no way to discover that you were infact human. You would belive god was a rabbit, and you yourself were a rabbit. when you would come of age and begin to be attracted to the opposite sex, you would infact.. be attracted to rabbits. Even if you were human.

What does this have to do with anything? well, it relays to number one, All of us are infact... measly humans. We know all the people we will ever deal with will be human and so on so forth... But.. As a child if you are exposed to cartoons/videogames/movies/pets/books/comics that feature these anthropodmorphic charecters (Tails, Millie, Mighty mouse, disney's robin hood, sly cooper)AKA "Furries", and we enjoy the games and movies AND are frequently exposed to these elements. it will develop the need to be different, it triggers that furry bug and places these furry figures higher up than humans on the "cool-list" causing your ideal self to be a "furry" you imagine yourself to be a furry and would like nothing more than to dispose your ugly human shape, sprout ears and a tail.

3. Mythilogical

In history you may have seen Anubis(anpu) the jackal headed egyptian god of the dead.. and a billion other gods or what not being portryed as furries. What made these ancient people make this stuff up?.. well whos to say they made it up?

Bonus #4. Awsome

Thats right... this is MY personal opinion, I call it awesome.

People are furry becuase its just down right awesome... bieng somthing you arent and hanging with others who feel the same way.

Im furry.. quite proud too. I wont be an idiot about it but I wont be afraid to tell my friends or co workers if the situation arrives.

Why am I a furry? I dont know. I was not raised around animals. I did play sonic and watch movies like Once apon a forest.. but is that enough to my brain screw up and make me attracted to mrs. mudd ... No.. NO!.. But What did make me think these thinks and thought the thoughts are the facts that 1. I like foxes, I dig foxes, foxes are cool. 2. Humans suck "lets destroy our earth and eachother!, wear too much makeup and shoot some smaller earthen nieghbors for sport!" and 3. I wanted to belong somewhere.. and since I dislike humanity (with a few exceptions) that makes me fall into a furry coma.

So there you have it. I dont think I will ever be able to explain why we selected few are in love with this phenomena but its pretty cool. the community grows everyday and maybe even one day there will be furry cafe's furry magazines and furry shops at the mall.

If ANYTHING in my little brainflood made sence to you, or helped you realize somthing, say something and I'll fell very acomplished .

Please add anything or your own beliefs.

If anything offends you, remember its just what I think so dont take anything seriously, I am afterall a madman.
