You listen to Green Carnation?!
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

None of the above. Dey ist here.

And the great thing about Green Car Nation is that they also do sweet acoustic stuff, like this.

Also Doc, do you listen to Symphony X?

In fact just name all the MEHTUL bands you listen to.

In fact everyone do the same.

This topic is now all about MEHTUL.

gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Beyond the Embrace
Black Sabbath
Blind Guardian
Incinerate
Judas Priest
Lacuna Coil
Megadeth

Norwegian Black MEHTUL (hell yes it gets its own section)
1349
Burzum
Darkthrone

Gorgoroth
Immortal
Limbonic Art
Mayhem
Satyricon
Ulver
Zyklon-B

...and the rest: (hope I don't forget any!)
AC/DC
Alice Cooper
Anathema
Deicide
Dimmu Borgir
Dragonforce
Dream Theater
Evanescence
Green Carnation
Iron Maiden
Metallica
Muse
Nightwish
Nine Inch Nails

Angela (or anyone I guess), if you know that I like a band but forgot to list them, just say so and I'll edit the post.

Muse
I wanted to note this earlier, but I forgot! Oh well.

That is the first time I've ever seen someone categorize Muse as MEHTUL. I mean, hey, I <3 Muse, but MEHTUL?

I still think you'd like Dark Tranquillity, too.

Here's mine.

Ayreon
Green Carnation

Also how is Opeth remotely MEHTUL? :evil:

*completely ignoring all the other non-MEHTUL bands up there*

Since when is Opeth NOT MEHTUL?

I am confused!

Also last time I checked you liked Edguy, Blind Guardian and Avantasia.

Opeth is pretty much prog rock. Maybe a little MEHTUL shows up here or there; but definitely not all the time. EDIT: Though the vocals could easily be considered MEHTUL-y. Especially the growling and such.

And yes I do like those bands you mentioned, as well as others; but I was shortening it to what I have been listening to recently.

MEHTUL bands I still like:
Pig Destroyer
Municipal Waste
Lamb Of God
Slipknot
Megadeth
Killswitch Engage (early)
Napalm Death
Slayer

"Opeth is a Swedish heavy MEHTUL band... firmly rooted in Scandinavian death MEHTUL" Wikipedia

"USER TAGS: death MEHTUL melodic death MEHTUL MEHTUL progressive progressive death MEHTUL progressive MEHTUL" Last.fm

"Styles
* Symphonic Black MEHTUL
* Heavy MEHTUL
* Progressive MEHTUL
* Scandinavian MEHTUL
* Goth MEHTUL
* Death MEHTUL/ Black MEHTUL"

Allmusic.com

"Over the past decade, Opeth have evolved into one of the most distinct sounding bands in MEHTUL music. One of the most daring bands death MEHTUL has ever seen, the Swedish band, led by guitarist/singer Mikael Åkerfeldt, shattered the rigid constraints of the genre, most notably with their highly acclaimed 2001 album Blackwater Park." Popmatters.com

"We’re still a MEHTUL band." - Mikael Akerfeldt, Opeth's frontman.

In conclusion I think you have gotten it backwards! Opeth is a MEHTUL band that sometimes uses non-MEHTUL elements, not a non-MEHTUL band that sometimes uses MEHTUL-elements.

And Roo is correct in saying Opeth is way more MEHTUL than Ayreon is.
