you were clearly abducted by a UFO.....no question about it....
seriously though memory is a shotty thing, it could be a number of things. Anything from you being really dehydrated and having a poor reaction to the beer, to possibly a almost hypnosis state as your brain starts to shut down for sleep. Knowing your sleep patterns it is very possible your brain could be having issues entering its sleep state properly. I think I read something a couple years ago about when you deprive someone of REM sleep proper there brain waves don't go through the normal cycles and a person can actually show REM like brain waves before they fall asleep. Obviously that was the extrem case, the general case was people just entering REM quickly, and more sporadically.
Who knows if any of these things were what happened to you, but I would not worry about it unless it happens a lot more. If you want to do something proactive you might try adjusting your sleep patterns. I know that is easier said than done, and I hesitate to make my next recommendation but it might be a good option to you. You might consider taking sleep medication to help you fall asleep. Obviously this could not be taken after a night of drinking, but it could help shift your sleep cycle to something more normal which might help you go off the meds. The thing is people can become dependent on them, and one of my friends is to the point where he can't sleep without them at all. So you have to be careful because taking a pill your whole life is obviously not an ideal situation. All in all I am not a doctor, you should see a doctor and maybe do a sleep lab (if you have not already). But hopefully this will give you some questions to ask someone who is qualified and he can help agree or disagree with what I said.
