What I'm thinking of doing over summer vacation ...

A place to talk about anything (that doesn't belong in the other forums).

I remember a guy swearing on every oath that he'd been awake without sleep for over three weeks.
He couldn't know for sure unless it's all on video. I think he only felt like he'd been up the whole time. Maybe he went crazy.

As someone who attempted this exact same exercise in self control and stamina I encourage you. After a few days you may hear sounds and not function properly. I never got visual hallucinations but maybe that was for the better.

I only managed 60 to 70 hours so maybe I had to stay awake longer for it to mess up my rhythm, which never happened to me.

One of my friends' stays up for the span of week every time finals come around. She never seems too bad off, but then again she's pretty messed up to begin with.
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

I'm not trying to stay up more than 10 days, I'm just seeing what my limit is. Also I never heard of anyone dying from not sleeping. And secondly, I will do it on the first week of Vacation, so I have plenty of time to get my sleeping clock back in order.

it's not so much the actual not-sleeping, as the fact that not sleeping deeply effects your immune system and other body functions, so you're a lot more likely to pass out and get pnemonia and stuff

You will die faster from lack of sleep than you will from lack of food or water. Also, when I said schedule, I mean sleep shcedule...you may very well end up on a sleeping all day, awake all night thing, which you won't be able to reverse before the school year begins.

I tried the whole nocturnal thing too though. It's boring as all hell. You sit up all night with the whole world around you dead and asleep, unable to go places or speak to really anyone unless of course, you're on XBOX live with all the royal dinguses of the night who still play halo and sound like total school rejects every time they win or lose. Not fun. :?

Or you could do IM chats with people on the other side of the world.
