I kinda stopped trusting them when phpBB2 ran into code management issues.For more sophisticated forums, I reckon that phpBB3 is a damn fine piece of code:

Meh.. vbulletin is everything I hate about messages boards. their support staff also has some of the most obnoxious people I know of helping clients assuming everyone asking questions in their forums has pirate installations of their board software. You can get any of the worthwhile features in smf these days.much <3 for vBulletin
PHPBB3 is also looking very good (only played with it a lil bit, but looked quite good).
Invision is my fave if I'm going commercial.
