Okay, you're cooking for a party you're holding and one couple is vegetarian, and you've run out of vegetable stock and only have chicken stock.
Going to the shops to get more would use up precious cooking time.
Do you:^^

Hmm, maybe.
But I've heard that some vegatarians get really sick if they eat meat because they've gotten so used to no meat their digestive systems have changed.

Well, I too voted to use the chicken =P

They probably wouldn't notice, and it almost certainly wouldn't affect them at all.
The sickness they feel may actually be in part psychological though, but as you and 5h said, they'll never know.

I think that's pretty unlike me actually, in that I do respect vegetarians, and anoyne else who has different views or beliefs that have at least some logic to them, and don't impinge on the freedom and beliefs of others.

But in this case, If I lost cooking time, then the food may turn out awful when I get held up at the shops, and therefore catering to them would have affected everyone who was coming. Do they really want that on their concience?
The needs of the many, you know...

I went with going to get veggies.

I was vegetarian for a while, and when I started eating meat again I did get very sick every time I ate it. Not pleasant. It could have been psychological yes, but if I could avoid inflicting that on others I would.

Plan ahead? Well, the dilemma states that you have run out, not that you didn't buy any, so I presume that it was simple negligence in that you presumed you had some, but it turned out that you did not.

And if you check things like that all your life, you ust get paranoid anyway.

I chose to respect thier beliefs. I would maybe ask someone else to go to the store if that was an option.

THERE ARE ALWYS MORE THEN 2 OPTIONS.

OR you could put the chicken in the oven on a lower temp than usual, or in a crock pot or something, and head out to get what is needed. Crock pots are safe, so... i'd cook it a bit in there while i headed out, and then put it in the oven.
If you've done things right, people won't be sure if you've done anything at all.

I'd serve shrimp instead.

You serve the soup to everyone but the vegetarian and get something for him. Like chopping up some celery and putting peanut butter on it, that's always good.
By the power of greyskull, I'm not sure I believe that.

Eh, with my luck, they'd catch it somehow. I don't know how, but I never get away with anything. If I tried using the chicken, I'd get caught somehow, so I'd just give in and get the veggies.
