New comic Sketches

Here's a pic of 3 characters from my new comic "Valedictorian". I've been practicing a bit with a slightly different style and I've working with a new script and ideas for it. Hopefully, I'll be able to update this one on thursdays and 2AC on tuesdays. That would be perfect.

Valedictorian is gonna be a strip comic. Hopefully it's going to be newspaper strip style, but it might end up looking like O&M style strips (current). Don't know, I'll be making thumbnails for myself for this.

Well, anyways, this is just a little practice/Ref sketch for myself. I'll probably have the comic and it's site ready 2-3 weeks from now, but no promises are ever made.
If you put peanutbutter anywhere on your body, I'll lick it off...

ANYWHERE.

My FA... nothing's on it right now, so there's no point to click it.

Not bad. My only question is what is Cecile supposed to be. I assume Johan is a raccoon and Will looks like a cat but I can't place Cecile. Looks...K9. Like the poses.

Yeah, I should've outlined her teeth and ears a bit more. She's a rabbit (bunny, hare, etc).

I suspected so from the ear length.

Looks nice, but it seems like the hand is... odd, sorry guess I just like five fingers.

I think these characters look very promising. It will be interesting to see what you come out with.

So is this new strip autobiographical in any way? I ask because I notice Johan looks similar to your fursona.

I think it's because the curve on the thumb is angling to the side a bit much...other than that, very nicely done.

It is my fursona, but it's not autobiographical.

Not bad. The striped part of Cecile's shirt looks like a continuation of her hair at first glance, which looks like a REALLY strange body deformation. Obviously color would make that a non-issue though.

The expressions are dull and very generic...sorry to be blunt, but every single one of them look like they just had a large coffee where the beans were strained with Red Bull. There are really no personality vibes coming off this sketch. As I say personality is created from the passion an artist has for his work. Not much love here.

You see poses well...but the anatomy, especially around the arms and neck needs more practice...I don't know it just looks like a soup can is connecting the heads to the body.

I still liked the direction you were going back in the beginning of 07. It felt more appropriate for an online comic...but then again deviantart and FA can corrupt even the strongest of will, but then again don't let me steer you style wise.

There I'm probably the only truthful commenter you will get in this thread and I don't do it often. I may not care for the style or themes you do...but I always like to see an artist attempt for the best they can do and half assed comments most people spout here are not gonna help.

Heh, yeah, sorry about the expressions. Each character has a personality, but this pic wasn't for that (for example, Johan shouldn't even be smiling. He doesn't smile). This pic was made for faces, so that I wouldn't forget what they look like, but I'm good at creating a personality, so you don't have to worry about that.

I'm not sure what direction I was going in '07, but whatever it was, that's gonna stay for 2AC, but overall, I'm basically sick of that style. I never really cared for it... just not what I like. I like this one 'cause it's... different. I basically copied O&M for my original style (sad), so this one is much more appealing to me because I used no reference. Instead I just sat down and based the looks on what I could remember.

Lol, yeah, I'm also sorry 'bout the whole "soup can thing". Sadly, it's probably gonna end up looking like that anyways... I'll try to fix it (since I know how), but I'm lazy and I probably wont attempt to change... heh.

"I may not care for the style or themes you do"

Ow, lol.

I'm also not sure what you mean by dA and FA effecting me...

Anyways, thanks for the honest comment dude. No one else really gives them to me, so it's nice to hear them. Please don't get mad at me for giving my own opinion on your opinions (since one person yelled at me for that once), but I do like to throw in my own 2 cents.

You did an ok job with outlining it. I just couldn't make out the ears. I see it know that you mention it. Geez...it must be close to time to get my annual eye checkup.

I think they look pretty good! The necks could use a little work, but hey, they're cartoons.

Eh, he's probably just making his style a bit more realistic so it's better for drawing porn with. :-P

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!
