Down the passage which I did not take

Postby Muninn » Sat Jan 26, 2008 4:05 am

I sometimes get drawing style ADD. That's a fairly good assesment of this motley bunch of sketches.

Few of these I ever intended to show. Some could be offensive, some have no context and some are just rubbish. Most of them were drawn months ago, back in autumn 2007.

They're all rather badly scanned sketches, don't expect any pretty pictures in this post. I'm more concerned with the ideas, the jokes some have. Treat it as that and criticise those more.

Ms. Mudd - Bending Master

Ozy x Felicia OTP - Drawn merely to annoy the shippers who were speculating on Ozy and Millie relationships a while back.

Another of those meaningless but random ideas I sometimes draw.

How the "Millie punched Jeremy" rumour will be told as soon between the children.

Times ain't like they used to be.

Isolde gets anxious to kick some ZEN BUTT. No context for this, just a random doodle.

"There's a grief that can't be spoken, there's a pain goes on and on".

"Why did summer leave so quickly, was it something that I said?" (Picture inspired by something I saw on DA)

Through my time here I've always tried to draw something different regarding Ozy and Millie and I like to think I have. Whether it be different art styles or interesting and odd ideas I've tried to contribute artistically to an Ozy and Millie fan art forum. I see myself doing it less frequently from now. If anyone is curious they can check the forums, you'll find a plethora of art there. Hopefully you'll like it.

With all that said I am announcing here that I'm taking a brief leave from the forum and IRC. I know everything passes, everything changes and my reason is that tired old refrain (but still a valid reason) - the forum's changed into something I'm not sure I want to be part of. It's not permanent but don't expect me here for the immediate future. I'll answer stuff accordingly when I get back probably.

Well, dang it, if you don't like me, just say so! :-P

More seriously, you have some superlative drawings there. And some...troubling ones, too. But that's what makes them fun, and I like them too. 8)

I especially like the one of Isolde.

Sorry to hear you're tired of us. Happy trails, or some similar sentiment perhaps expressed less cornily. (Amazing--'cornily' is apparently actually a word. At least, my spell checker says so.)

Question--why do you draw on graph paper? Is there some reason, or is it just what you have lying around?

You know, you should draw DCS a guest strip. He'd definitely run it. (He ran mine, for heaven's sake!)

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!

If she bends mud...would that make her an Earthbender or a Waterbender? O:

This *must* be made into an awesome thing. I mean, moreso than it is already.

And is that a Hellsing reference I detect with Stephen? Heh.

Truely great hatching in the first one especially, it's something I have to put a whole heck of a lot more work into myself, I'm only just beginning to wrap my head around it.

Probably not gonna by your tone, but - is there any chance there's a website out there somewhere where you've uploaded more of your stuff in a central sort of location? You've got a good personal style going on here, and I'd love to see more of it.

Gee, I wonder.

As for the art, it's really well done. See ya around, Jack.

My favorite drawing that you did is definitely the last one, with Millie playing hopscotch. I'll list my reasons!

1, it's a cool angle: hardly anyone has the guts to draw someone doing something unusual from an unusual angle. I like the foreshortening on the arms. I also like the shadow underneath, and the skew of the ground. Nicely done.

2, it's a good concept: most of us long for a return to the innocence of childhood, so the theme of the piece is resonant and well crafted. Another big plus.

3, it's executed well! The drawing itself is good! I like the shading, the style, all of it.

The others are good too, but that last one is my favorite.

Oh yeah, and by the way, I'm sorry to see you go on hiatus. I already sent you a PM though, so I'll spare you from my own redundancy.

take care!

I know she looks upset and all, but that looks to me like the cutest picture of Isolde I have ever seen. Must be the outfit, or something. I don't know.

Your art is always interesting - a nice change from the usual.

Have a good one.
