Define Cynical Fan Forums

So, I was reading CameronCN's thread "Name the Otter Contest,"
and Roo made a comment about creating a club or something for all the DC-ers with their own comics.
Personally, I think that's an excellent plan.

I too have been thinking about creating my own comic, and I've had this idea since long before I read any webcomics.

Anyway, I think it would be cool to have a forum/club/whatever where people could talk specifically about their own comic creations
and the like without any reservations about clogging DC with irrelevant material (not that anyone's bothered by that anyway.)

Thoughts?

Well, I was thinking more in terms of perhaps creating some sort of place (maybe even a seperate forum) where the focus is DCer's webcomics, ideas for webcomics, praise for other's comics etc. It wouldn't exclude anybody who wished to join, it just wouldn't focus on O&M.

Indeed. It is a good idea, though much of my "comics" are related to O&M anyways just from a different perspective and thinking.

It may be exactly what I need to light a fire under me to start the comic I myself have had plans for for quite some time. I'm all for it!

I personally think a whole separate board would probably be a better idea, because there can be a lot of topics for something like this, to the extent that they would crowd a single forum on DC.

I think it'd be a great idea. It'll help a tad with brining traffic to our own webcomics and provide us with something to do should we be suffocating of boredom.
Which happens to me quite a lot.

It would be encouragement to start webcomics for those who can draw, mebbe even for those that believe they can't, and a source of ideas, motivation, et cetera for authors of existing webcomics.

But enough of my rambling. All in all, I'm all for it.

Whether or not we have a separate forum all depends on how many members we wind up having. There won't be that many topics in said forum if there aren't that many members.

I love the idea. One thing we could do that would be fun could be a collaborative comic-one where we switch off drawing pages, like Golden.

On the subject of members, I believe about 50% or more of regular DC posters have their own comic, and a few more (like myself) might start one in the near future.

I don't know if we have enough people to warrant a new section of the forum. But perhaps this topic will help find out if it's a good idea.

I've had an idea floating around in my head for a while now, and I might actually get around to staring a comic. At the moment, though, the black ballpoint I'm using is rather erratic (it makes a lot of ink blots, for some reason). I'll have to wait until I get a replacement.

i would agree since i have my own comic...(in process of revamping my drawing style tho)

As a whole, I think we generally agree that this is a good idea. If anyone has any questions or problems, speak up or forever hold your peace.

Now, the idea is to get this going from 'talk' to 'action'. Organize it somehow. I would like to see something like this going, especially because, as stated earlier, at least half of DC's members have their own webcomics or are thinking about starting one.

For some reason I find this funny. Maybe it's because we have around the house hundreds of pens, pencils, brushes, markers, and other drawing implements. And I do all my drawing on the computer.

Cheers Mr Pompelchook! I was being faciceous when I suggested the club, but I like the idea now.

Maybe, rather than making those who don't have cartoon feel excluded, it could be a club geared up for cartoonists, people planning cartoons, and general cartoon fans to share opinions and ideas on comics themselves...geared up to the creative process and helping with suggestions, comments, and constructive criticism for webcartoonists and fans to share ideas and the like.
