The lengths food companies go to fool ya (new strip)I was shopping today and came across an old favorite of mine: Balonie slices. I used to eat these in the old days but my parents said it was fattening. I looked upon the nutritional facts and saw that it actually had very little fat! I put it in my small basket then I remembered that Ozy and Millie comic... I quickely looked back on the product and saw the catch and here it is:

I didn't ink it because I had no time. I had to study.J

It's spelled "Bologna"

Hehe, that's awesome.

Personally, I find fat to be delicious.

Isn't bologna/baloney one of those American/British differences?

Nice strip Donnie. Millie looks like she's in love with her food in the third panel.X

Hehe, yep. I nearly got pwned myself if I hadn't seen that piece of text. I mean, come on, how can one tiny slice be one serving? I used to use 2-3 slices back then, boy these companies are good at this.P

"Boloney" also appears in some dictionaries. Given so many variants, maybe another one won't matter, as long as it's obvious what she means.

How would "Bologna" be pronounced in actual Italian, anyway? From what little I know of Italian spelling, it sounds like it would be "bo-LO-nyah." Either way, I Support Simplified Spelling.

Problem is, I'd always seen it spelled "bologna" for the meat product and "baloney" when it means "nonsense."K

I believe you're right on the Italian pronunciation, Octan. Weird Al seems to be all alone in his version. (In his defense, that was his radio start.)

I think packages of bologna always spell it the Italian way to be taken seriously, whereas the word for "nonsense" was probably influenced by "blarney." Or was it the other way around?9
