This is the reason I would never take another art class... they never helped me draw.

Anyways, very good job my friend.

Yours might, mine never really did (I also didn't like learning things that I wouldn't draw normally).

I'm self taught.

I self taught drawing people, I learned perspective to draw huge mechs and stuff, and I learned charcoal shading just a few days ago.

I don't have to attend expensive art classes and make papier mache models of my face in order to badly doodle a cartoon with three pencils and a cheap packet of tech pens :wag:C

I wish I could draw with charcoals. Yours is nice, personally I liked the texture on the chair.

!There are actually LOTS of different kinds of charcoal, here, let me list them:

Compressed (vine) charcoal: Pretty hard and solid but extremely smudgy but light. This is excellent for setting up the small values and background shades.

Soft Charcoal: Omg, the mother of all super soft charcoal!. Just barely touching this stuff will smudge your hands alot! They can make some SERIOUSLY dark colors and smudge ALOT.

*something Charcoal: This is a bar of charcoal that is pretty hard and solid and smudges only a little. Great for gradients.

Charcoal Pencils: Yep, pencils. These are great for tiny details.
