openCanvas: Art and mayham program.Hey everyone.

Thought I'd share a computer program I ran across a little bit back called "openCanvas". It's an art program like a few others, kinda nice, powerful for free software, but thats not why I'm drawn to it (pun NOT intended!).

There's a neat little feature with this version of oC that allows you to network with up to 3 other people on one 'page' across the internet. It's a fun little thing, generally creates random images and compilations of ideas and thoughts. I recommend it to everyone here, and hope you all enjoy it =).

there are other versions floating out there, but tracking them down is even more difficult than the windows version. This version is technically out of date, but beyond this one they loose the networking functionality, and then beyond even that you have to pay.B

OC's networking feature for some reason has never worked from my machine. I've heard that people with DSL or cable Internet can't host OC sessions; I can only assume that people on networks are similarly screwed.

If only I had the source code somewhere, I could maybe get somebody who understands networking better to modify it to work right. From my networking class last semester I've deduced that it might be incompatible with NAT somehow, or something to that effect.J

Why must you just link directly to a download? Another link with more information about openCanvas would be appreciated. The official site, for instance. Wikipedia is also a good place to start. :)

the wiki entry is good, I s'pose. It's a direct link, because this version is out of date and no longer available for download to my knowledge, though the main site.
