Because your characters look like foxes. They have the same ear and *basic* face structure of the two foxes we know and love (ala, Ozy and Millie).

If you want to make them look like wolfs, work on it. Point the ears forward, bring in, or clean up, the face tufts.

Shorten the tail. If necessary, curve it upwards at the end.

And the picture above, the nose looks all wrong.

Basically, guy wished that everything he touched turned into gold. He got his wish, and was delighted until he realized that *everything* got turned to gold, including his loved ones. Thus his blessing was really a curse in disguise.
