ill continue practising with ozy&millie drawings...i wont 'directly' copy them, but i wont do them just from memory either.

Just basically draw random drawings of them, like practice with the heads, once you got that right..practice with the body etc,

Oh yeah, Think of O&M's fox ears as knifes since they are so sharp lookin' ;) :-P

Anyway, Thats real improvement dude :wag:

I know a good practice method: Blind Contour drawing. It involves using a piece of paper to stop you from seeing your drawing and forces you to concentrate on the object your looking at. It is said that it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to draw something bad if you do this properly. I did this with my hand as the object, although it was messy, I could easily identify my hand. Remember, hand-eye coordination.

well...would that work with a tablet? cos i have my tablet as a mousepad, (with the pen) and the drawing appears on the screen...

Hehe, now that is different indeed! You might have it easy then if you know what to do (overlays... tracing...)

actually ive figured out a way... quite simple actually. once ive drawn the framework, i just zoom in a bit, and it becomes tons easier :)

using that method i made this pic...

its my first real attempt at a 'comic' style drawing :)

just one thing im not that good at yet...emotion on the faces, and drawing the faces right to indicate they are talking...does it look right or wrong now? :?

Bodies and necks are too thick. There is also a special connection between the noses and far eye which you didn't notice.

Chris is right. Practice really is what makes the difference. But also be self-critical, find the flaws in your work and improve.

Actually, I go by draw and learn. Practice is good for refining but I often find LEARNING to be more effective for the long run. You could practice for years and not get that much faster when you draw. For instance, drawing can be used in steps. The first step is simple shapes and gestures to be used as a reference, the next step is refining those simple shapes into bodies, and then finally you give them what they need. It is like going step by step from a stick figure to a squiggly figure to a detailed finished figure. This is great for beginners.

Actually, I'm really liking the latest drawing. Let me explain...
I've always had a soft spot for styles that deliberately avoid proper proportions (though not ALL examples of this). Even if your aim here wasn't that, it's how it came out. Sure the drawing isn't like David's, but that's no reason to say it's bad. Personally my style uses thick necks, so that little critique isn't one I could have said because I like using thicker necks. With a little tweaking, making it cleaner, this will be a very nice picture in my eyes.B
