I actually couldn't participate because I got Vista yesterday and the disc for my scanner doesn't say if it's compliant for that (haven't tried it yet though). So I may have to buy a new one.

Depending on the age of the scanner, there might be a new version on their website. That's what I had to do for mine (my really freaking old one that I don't use anymore) when I got XP.
