Some of you might recall that I've wanted to do a comic strip about a pirate/captain basically. An animal character, with adventures and exploits in the age of wooden ships and iron men, with some fact in there too (in the way of ships, locations and protocol from that age).

Well, I've always wanted to do a comic about a dog, so I chose a dog character. This is the first physical work I've done on this idea, and I'm pretty pleased with it. I think the body is great, I've never been good with drawing them, but the head, I think, needs some work.

What do you guys think? :) Expect more drawings soon.

The body is, in fact, great. The head's pretty good, just watch your perspective and maybe add a bit more detail to go along with all the body detail. Overall, however, the drawing is great! I hope you pursue this project, I say it has some awesome potential!

I think it's always a brilliant visual ploy to have very toony characters against a realistic background, the humorous and insightful implications provide a good balance.

Of course, he's your character, do it as you wish. That's the only thing you should aim for, draw what makes you happy and makes sure it meets your standards.

Anami: Sex with a giant, black scorpion seems fun.

<SteveThePocket> Geez. I want more of this stuff now. Now I know how a horny guy on an imageboard feels.

You've got a fantastic cartoonish look there, especially with the clothing and perspective.
And I like how he's got a black tail tip.

He looks very professional. Good job!
Who sleeps shall awake, greeting the shadows from the sun
Who sleeps shall awake, looking through the window of our lives
Waiting for the moment to arrive...
Show us the silence in the rise,
So that we may someday understand...

Your drawing has a great look, 5hfifty! You definitely have the uniform polished down really well and the character's shape is very well-defined too. Excellent drawing.
