I have a civilization in one of my stories called the Homeworld Empire cause they named their new home planet Homeworld rather than New Earth or anything since they wanted to detach themselves from Earth.

I get that a lot. Can't change their name though since the name isn't supposed to be fancy or anything. Just plain and direct, a clear message that their new world is the new center for mankind and the future. Earth is a mere back water fringe world to this new empire centered over 60 light years away in the general direction past Capella.
