I like the line about the clacking of their claws on the marble. That's cute.
I'd hardly call regular characters "cameos"...
I don't think Stephan counts as a regular character anymore :P

Given the frequency they appear, and that they are not a major plot driving force here, I think 'cameo' can apply.

Yes! I also appreciate clacking claws. I'm sure many people enjoy this noise when their pets walk across hard surfaces.
