Huh. This strip makes me think of a fond memory with my mom.
I had just eating a serving of something or other, and I asked her, "Please, sir... may I have some more?" I didn't expect her to go with it, because she's usually very serious, but she bit. Fun times, fun times.

Gruel = warm or semi-hot thin cereal (not necessarily with milk), generally oats. Let's see a fox eat THAT.
