All of that Llewellyn-font must have taken a while.

If he's been too old for stuff since the Polk administration (which ended in 1849), then we must revise some of our estimates of Llew's age. He must be the better part of 200 at least.

That's assuming that he speaks the literal truth, which might not be the case.

I wonder how many people in the world know about the Polk administration.

Awwww that last panel made me all warm and fuzzy inside. And I had a hard time stopping myself from making the background bright pink. I settled for purple instead. :P

After reading this strip (though it's crossed my mind before), I can't help but wonder if, at some point in the Ozy and Millie run, there'd be a marriage between these two. You never know, right? It would certainly open up some interesting story possiblities, you have to admit.

Or maybe it would even be a great way to end the strip. Not that I ever want it to end.

Hmmm, I don't know. It's possible, but it just doesn't feel like a proper end to me. It would kind of be a cruel ending too, considering we wouldn't get to see what life is like for :ozy: and :millie: afterwards.

I've been wondering if Dana thought of this arc because of when I mistakenly said that they were definitely not dating, because I had forgotten that the correct statement was that they definitely were dating.

Wasn't Polk the one who was president during the Mexican-American war? IE, we wanted California, New Mexico, and that other chunk of land?

From my memory of Scott O'Dell's Carlota, that is correct.

That other chunk of land was it's own country for like 10 years. No wonder they have an ego.

Any ego they have was probably a result of the open settlement policy that Mexico had in Texas. A plethora of Americans moved to Texasland for various reasons until they outnumbered the actual Mexicans living there. Then Mexico tried to outlaw slavery and the Texans weren't having any of that.
