I frankly like the progressive tone being taken by the Canadian government lately on this issue. It's far better than the regressive tone being taken by the American government, which I for one do not approve of, clear and simple.

While this is a topic I try to avoid, due to uncertainty myself on it, I do know that the right decision is being made on the Canadian side on all counts of recent legeslation on this issue. I've been watching the Canadian news on this, since the American news won't even mention the topic for fear of critisim.

I tell you, Americans are cowards. Afraid to face anything that challanges their preexisting beliefs. I hope I am not being too harsh, as GhostWay puts it, but that's what I feel. I don't care if I'm shot at by both sides. That is where I stand. People can't be turning every little disagreement in lifestyle into a big political war. It does not foster peace. It only fosters war and hatered.

Sometimes I want to ask these conservatives if they are so compassionate, why do they insist on fighting every issue to the bitter end? It's just not right. Some things have to be let be, and others can't be changed overnight, and I think this is an issue that just has to be let be until we can understand human nature itself more.

Human understanding is evolving. We cannot stop the progress, we must let it continue. It will not help to be fighting for old ideals without justifying whether or not they still apply in todays society, and you can't go against a good sized portion of the population just for the beliefs of a few that are permitted by the majority. That is called Fascism and resulted in the second world war. It is not something I want to see again.

Some recently addressed me on this issue, yes I am perceptive and knew of what they were speeking, and I just wished to let it be known. This is how I feel. I guess it really isn't a solid answer, but I don't have one. The only answer I have is that what is being done now is not the answer. That is what I know for sure.

Jesus came out reptitively against judgement of others when one has no authority to do so. That is truely what I believe, and if the conservitive government in my country says otherwise, I cannot say that I agree. That is all.

I feel that one cannot fight until one knows not only what they are fighting against, but what they are fighting for. You can't say that you are simply fighting sinners, no more than you can just fight terrorists. Such vauge ideas do nothing but lead to false assumptions and quick judgement. There is no good end to doing this.

I hope I have not offended anyone on either side of the issue, I tried to be tactful. I guess this is as tactful as I get, so you people will have to accept it. I cannot say anything with true certainty in this world. I can only say what I believe.

I can only say what I believe.

You scared off two posters with that.
I wonder if it'll finally get it's own forum too. I've always wanted a place online where I can talk about O&M.

Despite what you may think, Ruedii, Republicans do not all share the same viewpoints. Neither do Democrats. In fact, believe there are a few Republicans on this forum.

As for your "tact", let me say this: "Tact is the art of making a point without making an enemy." An art at which you have failed over and over and over again. There's another phrase that I'm surprised you have not heard: "if you cannot say anything nice, say nothing at all." Don't expect us to simply accept your snobbish behavoir because you have no control over it. That is a blatant lie; you never need to say anything. Next time you feel the need to say something, bite your tounge and say nothing. You might actually end up not offending anyone.

And you can stop using what I may have said earlier as a "point" in your "excuses". Trying to demonize me by providing excuses comprised of negative statements I have made will get you nowhere.

It is a bit embarrassing to have been concerned with the human problem all one's life and find at the end that one has no more to offer by way of advice than 'try to be a little kinder'. - Aldous Huxley

Jacob, you prove to be the most tactful member of the forum. If you could just learn to be a bit more aggressive without loosing that tact.

Anyways, that was just a joke. I was implying it was a generalization, not ALL republicans. I have friends that are republicans that didn't support those measures too. So I know.

Also, I don't think this is a good time to judge anyone. Half the people in the northern hemisphere have a constant bad hair day throughout the winter. I admit I am one of them.l
