Well, to my knowledge, they're dried out (stale) bread, cut into cubes and typically added to Caesar salad:Codecat and me are both Dutch; I'll chalk it up to language/cultural difference then. Maybe croutons are different things in other countries.They can work in soup, in my experience, but it's not something I've heard of people other than me doing (and I only did it as an experiment - a successful one, I guess I should addActually they go in soup too.).

There are a couple visible in there, though those ones are bigger than the ones that come mass-produced in those boxes on our supermarket shelves.
