By butchering the language you are helping keep it new and modern. Helping it evolve.

Perhaps, much to the disdain of others, who, having grown up with with a particular set of words don't want them to change too much too fast.

it all depends on where and how you were raised

At last, a DC member that reads The Onion.
I don't think it's that uncommon, especially in this forum. I'm sure if you asked about you'll find more people who read it or have a passing interest.
Well, i own every book in the series, and i keep transcribed records of them, too. (All the nasty stuff blocked out, of course.) I'm currently on the tail end of Embedded In America's "Vol. 40, Issue 18." Also, i get a dispatch on the latest issue every Wednesday.

Back on topic, i've seen a comic with a similar joke. It's from Dandy & Company, the creator of which retired after becoming depressed following the divorce from his wife. Anyway, they go back in time to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and Dandy runs up saying that he broke the Liberty Bell. Before switching to a different time period, Bernard asks him: "Why couldn't you just write I.C. Wiener on the Declaration?" And Dandy answers, "I used Seymour Butz instead."

Hahahah, that's another zillion points for awesomeness from DCS. My dad got a chuckle out of it too as I typed a random page up to see if the lappy would work on a DSL connection.

Theres been longer plots. I can't think of one off the top of my head but then again my brain stopped working sometime monday afternoon.
DCS himself said it was his longer plot even when it reached... Was it 50 strips? Anyway, it was about two weeks ago I think.
