Really into the Beatles
Moderator:Æron
I was raised on Queen mostly, neither of my parents listened to the Beatles much and neither have I. My father doesn't really listen to music at all, and my mother is too young (or: not old enough) to have experienced the height of the Beatles' craze.

I used to hate any band my sister liked, and therefore I used to hate the Beatles. To this day, I have trouble liking some of their more juvenile songs like "Yellow Submarine" and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," but the more mature stuff is nice.

That's sort of my opinion of them. They have about 20 songs that I love, and the rest I don't like.

I love ALL of Harrisson's songs though...that guy was a genious.

I'm sort of that way about Blur too. Everything before "Blur" was pretty pants with the exception of a few songs off of "Modern Life Is Rubbish" and "Parklife".

Think about it. Chances are pretty good that if you ever have a chance to drive one of those old cars, then it is likely that you own one. Do you have any idea what one of those babys are worth on the open market??
We're sorry but the number that you have dialed is imaginary....Please turn your phone 90 degrees and try again.

What was it that so-and-so said, if you drive around in a classic GTO or something, people will turn their heads, but if you drive a Model T, people will wave at you.

Anyway... the Beatles were probably the first band I ever listened to as a kid. My mom had a collection of '60s records and I used to spend hours listening to them. But she never had any of the later Beatles ones, and to this day I have never heard any of their later songs, except occasionally on the radio. Which is just as well; I think I'm weird enough.

I like the Beatles but I like most of their earlier stuff more (that and an overwhelming desire to go to Mars being the only two character traits I share with Mr. Bush).

My musical tastes are split roughly 50-50 between a) stuff my parents like and music from computer games and TV shows. So we have a list that includes the Beatles, the Stones, Dire Straits and Oasis* at one end, and Bjorn Lynne, Allister Brimble, Booker T and the MGs (for Soul Limbo, aka the BBC Cricket theme), and the various people who've done the music for the Sonic series.

* How is this a parentally-influenced taste, you ask? Simple (well, not really). My mum is a Manchester City fan. Oasis are Manchester City fans. Therefore my mum assumes they must be nice lads who can't do a thing wrong. So she buys (What's The Story) Morning Glory? and plays it incessantly in the car. And thus, I am indoctrinated.
