Interesting, Mythbuster's did this and its a confirmed myth because if you did get in a certain pitch range, The glass will shatter. But in that strip, Millie cheated by Ambushing her mom. :-P

That's only because inertia is a property of matter.

Furries? Are they the nutters that pretend to be animals and draw humans that look like animals? Christ, I sink my head into my paws... -Rooster

LOL!!!
gforce422 is awesome because:
-He made the absolute nicest comments about me in the other topic. I didn't respond to them yet, because I suck, but they are greatly appreciated! =D
-I would say he would also be a good runner up as one of the nicest people alive.
-He joined the IRC sometimes. But not enough, I say! Chat moar =D
-He is evidently only 18 year old but he could easily pass for 25. =D
-He is a drummer like *I* am and this in itself is cool.

Interesting, I thought it did it only with crystal.
It's a very hard not to make though, and I'm always a bit sad when there is a reference to or gag about someone who sings "so bad" that glass breaks. You need to be an amazing singer, for stuff's sake!

This doesn't apply for this strip, of course. The joke is good :)

Reminds me of Millie purging her existential angst.

Also, loving the tail in panel 2.

I love the angry ears in that third panel.

I'm also generally enjoying this spat of strips lately, they're really very funny and I certainly appreciate how DCS can bounce from insightful to funny and back again, pretty much at the drop of a hat.

Is anyone else reminded of Calvin, though? Oh, if he and Millie were to ever meet...

I laughed at the Bill Nye joke. At my school that's the most common science video to watch, and I bet the majority of the students could sing the theme song if they wanted to.

I also love Mythbusters, but I've not seen that episode.

I've seen footage of industrial bridges rippling and then collapsing due to the pitch of the wind. Try that, Millie. Heck, Isolde probably has. But why stop there? See if you can match the pitches to vibrate all kinds of things to dust. Like Felicia's wool.

...he'd say, "Quick, get out of here. Hobbes is due for a meal."

I was watching the same episode!

I knew already that it is possible. Being a vocalist in choir, our director explained to us that it is possible.

It's true.
The force created by the sound waves makes the molecules in the class move at such a high rate that the bonds holding them together aren't strong enough and the glass shatters. It takes a specific shape and whatnot for the vibration to be exactly right with the right pitch, but it is possible.

In Mythbusters, if they'd used a different shape of glass, the frequency they used would have been different.

Actually, now I've een that episode of Mythbusters, I just watched it.

Being a vocalist, I already knew you could, but it's awesome all the same. Mythbusters rocks!
