I'm not too surprised she read up on ancient civilizations. History, especially at earlier ages when you aren't afflicted with senior-itis, can be as entertaining as a standard novel. Except it actually happened.

Also given that she had the patience to read the entire dictionary, no, I'm not that surprised.

Wait, did she make it to the end of the dictionary? And to think that she supposedly has ADD!

Yeah. Funny that.

Wait, what?

Cameron is awesome because:
-Because he has an artistic style that is both complex and minimalist. This is profound!
-He once drew me as a roadrunner. It was an actual honest to god feral roadrunner, but a roadrunner nonetheless!
-He lives in Idaho among the wilderness and stuff and I envy him for that. 3:
-He is probably one of the most personable artists on here.
-I think he's the only one of us on here who drew a fanart that made it as a guest strip on O&M. This is an accomplishment!

ADD doesn't mean that nothing can hold your attention, it just means that its easier to find distractions. Like a dictionary...

Also, I suspect Millie stopped when Ozy spoiled the ending for her.

But the ancient Egyptians weren't boogerbutts for enslaving the Hebrews?
Fair's fair; after they finally overthrew the Hyksos, the Egyptians enslaved all of their Semitic fellow travelers; the Hebrews were just one unimportant tribe among many. Though of course, there were certainly assimilated Semites (including Hebrews) who fought on the right side of the revolution, and didn't get caught up in the 'labor draft' afterwards; but they didn't write the bible. They probably gave us Moses to make up for it.

I was reminded of my niece (then 8 years old) meeting another girl with similar fondness for Egyptology one day; the two of them ran around happily nattering about mummification for the next hour...though neither of them ever did call anyone a boogerbutt, come to think of it.

Oh, and once again; I want to go to that museum.

Oddly enough, I was also interested in ancient Egypt about that age. I was sort of obsessed with hieroglyphs and papyrus and liked to read books that talked about Pharaoh Thutmose the Third, Smiter of the Asiatics and stuff like that.

Well, that's at least one thing we have in common with Millie - an interest in ancient civilisations.
Truly, it's hard to find a civilization in any age that didn't do something boogerbutted.
The Buddhists? And maybe the Sikhs up until Guru Hargobind? But then Sikhs aren't an ancient civilisation.

I wouldn't call "the Buddhists" a civilization unto themselves. But if you do, know that some societies have persecuted and even executed in the name of Buddhism.

I'll bet some did. But that's got nothing to do with civilisation, it's just human nature to be a complete "boogerbutt".

Buddhists are definitely not a civilization any more than Christians are. Yes I'm sure some societies have persecuted in their name, all faiths have their extremists and as Jack mentions it's just human nature. Civilizations rise and fall on the strength and wisdom of their leaders, it can take only one bad government to spell ruin for an entire country. (Can not necessarily will but can.)

No matter what religion, or belief, or culture, if it's large enough, there will always be a part of the population that will seek to harm others, for whatever reason. (Of course, when said population is in the majority, that's a completely different story)

In general, though, I'd rather think of people as inherently good. Give them the benefit of the doubt when appropriate.
