You with the sad eyes
don't be discouraged
oh I realize
it's hard to take courage
in a world full of people
you can lose sight of it all
and the darkness inside you
can make you fell so small

But I see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow

Show me a smile then
don't be unhappy, can't remember
when I last saw you laughing
if this world makes you crazy
and you've taken all you can bear
you call me up
because you know I'll be there

And I'll see your true colors
shining through
I see your true colors
and that's why I love you
so don't be afraid to let them show
your true colors
true colors are beautiful
like a rainbow
i still think of OM when i hear "your body is a wonderland." i forget who mentioned something about not thinking of naughty songs, but that made it stick.

Nah, that don't make me think of O&M, but it's still a really good song.

I don't really see the connection either; maybe it's not so much the lyrics by themselves as the song as a whole.

And by the way, sorry I still haven't gotten around to storyboarding that other theme song idea. I suspect I'm putting it off on purpose 'cause I know it'll be a lot of work. <img src='

You see, if everything I've heard is true, being gay in the Reagan era was even harder then it is today.

It was shortly after the song hit the airwaves and became a hit that her friend became stricken with AIDS. Remember, this was back in the days that AIDS was viewed as "a gay problem".

If you'll look over the lyrics again with this in mind, you'll see it isn't about romance. It's about encouraging someone you love to accept themselves, even if the rest of the world doesn't, because you've seen beyond the surface to the beutiful person that lies beneath.

And THAT'S why it reminds me of Ozy and Millie.

There are various Fiery Furnaces songs that remind me of O&M. Namely Chris Michaels, I guess, and Blancheflower (o/`I had a dexadrine... hyperactivity selective o/`).

Oh, and in lieu of the recent Hair Curse strips, here's a little something for our (creepy) friend, MR. CROSBY!

Almost cut my hair
It happened just the other day
It was getting kind of long
I could have said it was in my way

But I didn't and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly
And I feel like I owe it to someone

Must be because I had the flu for Christmas
And I'm not feeling up to par
It increases my paranoia
Like looking into a mirror and seeing a police car

But I'm not giving in an inch to fear
Cos I promised myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

When I finally get myself together
I'm gonna get down in some of that sweet summer weather
I'm going to find a space inside to laugh
Separate the wheat from the chaff

Cos I feel like I owe it, yeah
Said I feel like I owe it, yeah
You know I feel---- like I owe it yeah to someone

>>Metallica - Of Wolf And Man<< ALWAYS reminds me of Ozy and Millie, but I have no idea why.
>>Green Day - Minority<< works too.

Maybe it's because Ozy looks similar to a wolf, as DCS had conceived him as one.
