A long while ago, I made a post asking people if there were any songs that made them think of Ozy and Millie when they heard it.

One song that came up a number of times was "Minority" by Green day, a song that I had never heard before...

Until yesterday.

Upon hearing it, I could see why it was the choice of so many O&M fans. I could practically picture the opening sequence of an O&M television show (unlikey as that is) as it was playing;

It starts with Ozy happily strumming the song's opening refrain on his guitar... suddenly Millie runs in and grabs his top-hat, starting the vocals. They then proceed to chase each other through Millie's house, through the schoolyard, through Llewellyn's house, through the land under the couch, until Ozy finally catches Millie and the whole cast stands for a group shot under the titles, an edited version of "Minority" playing in the background the whole time.

Maybe we could join forces and do flash cartoons of Ozy and Millie, but I think we need to get the audio done first!

So I guess the best thing to do would be to see if there's a "radio remix" of it floating around and try to buy a copy of that.

* accesses iTunes... *

Sadly, I've haven't heard of the song nor the band, except through Jeff.

Well iTunes didn't have it, but...iTunes also has a service that lets you listen to other people's mp3s if their computers are on your local network (for those of you who, like me a month ago, weren't aware), and one of 'em had the song! And it's someone I've never even seen there before! (More proof there is a God in Heaven. ) So I listened to it and yeah, that really works.

BTW, regarding the search for a G-rated version, this page says their "Warning" single has a "radio edit" of the song, which would be perfect as long as the word in question is replaced rather than bleeped.

Very true indeed. It does fit very well with O&M for some reason.

Yeah, I'll concure. I loved the song since the first time I heard it, which was way before I stumbled upon O&M.

I'll join in the general agreement. That song describes O&M very well.
Might as well throw up the lyrics for those who've never heard the song before.

I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority

I pledge allegiance to the underworld
One nation under dog
There of which I stand alone
A face in the crowd
Unsung, against the mold
Without a doubt
Singled out
The only way I know

I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority

Stepped out of the line
Like a sheep runs from the herd
Marching out of time
To my own beat now
The only way I know

One light, one mind
Flashing in the dark
Blinded by the silence of a thousand broken hearts
"For crying out loud" she screamed unto me
A free for all
F*** 'em all
You are your own sight

I want to be the minority
I don't need your authority
Down with the moral majority
'Cause I want to be the minority

I can definitely see that working, Waffle. I like the image in my head with that. I'd have to agree with you.

Downloads awfully, pathetically slow for me, at 1/2 kbps... and this is on a high speed connection, something's gotta be wrong... =/
