People may believe what they want to. It's only when they spread them to others or turn them reality that it becomes a problem.

Well Tom, I have to agree with DCS on that. From what I've seen of his work, it is very unimpressive.
Mainly I just like "Tales of the Questor," which is considerably different from the others. But that's beside my point. Lately I've been trying to avoid severe negativity in my assessment of arts and entertainment, especially in "objective" language, out of respect for the decent people who like the stuff for one reason or another.a

I don't want to resort to bringing up Hitler to prove a point, but Hitler.
Hitler hating Jews didn't make him one of the worst people in history. His attempted genocide did.

Similarly, RHJ's hating homosexuals and Muslims doesn't make him a horrid person, but spreading his views over the web does.

And don't think that it's "his right" to say whatever he wants, because freedom of speech doesn't apply to hateful speech.

One man screaming in a desert is harmless. One man screaming in front of a large crowd is anything but.
If you mean to say that RHJ does not have a large crowd, you are mistaken. At least, it's closer to a large crowd than a desert.

DCS is justified in calling RHJ a horrible person, but when he calls RHJ a horrible cartoonist, it insults the taste of his readers. And DCS knows how hurtful that can be to fans, if he remembers his own reaction to an insult to John Lennon.
Don't get me started on John Lennon!

He was my favourite Beatle, though that doesn't mean I don't like the others.

I can take or leave them. None of them did anything compared to St. George.]

Hitler hating Jews didn't make him one of the worst people in history. His attempted genocide did.
But could he have done so without rallying the support of the masses? If he'd kept his opinions to himself, and gone to art school or something, Jews would be just fine. As it happens, that didn't happen. Hence my point.G

People could've also just realised he was a crackpot and ignored him. Same with anyone.

But the problem was that people were poor and scared. They were willing to do anything to revive their economy, and stop paying those insane damages.

All you need are people who are scared, like the current American public.

Yes, but people are stupid. They'll follow anyone who looks vaguely powerful. A lot of people thought "this is a bit silly" but they were overwhelmed by the masses.

Oh, well I'm quite aware that the US government and a good portion of the people share quite some similarities with the Nazi government. I'm just saying, there's no way you can win them all, the best you can do is make sure at least you do the right thing yourself.

Actually you described Palestine more than America there. Poor, scared, damaged and abysmal economy - all those apply to there than almost any part of America (or so I assume). As a result they chose the more extremist option for government.
But that's as far as the similarity can extend I think. They don't have the means to attack neighbouring areas with much efficency and lack the leadership to get the means anytime soon.

Palestine really just took the choice of the government that would both do the most to look out for the Palestinian people, and not give in to Israel.
